
Smoke On Startup!

when i start my engine up it throws out a hell of a lot of smoke, it does this until i start driving of.
i have the mixture set up right, just want to know if can stop this as it seems to burn a lot of fuel when starting up.

What colour is the smoke? if it's white then it's probably just a mixture of steam made from condensation over night in the exhaust system. If it's blue then this is symptomatic on worn valve stem seals.

Naturally the choke causes more fuel to be used up at first.

no its not blue, its white, it does on first start up of the day, but it also does it through out the day when the choke is not used. would this be the same thing?

White smoke is actually steam.
Blue smoke is burnt oil
Black smoke is a sign of a rich mixture.
I would say it's nothing to worry about. Is it a lot of steam or just a few puffs?

rubber valve stem seals quite possiblythe first start up of the day throws a hell of a lot out, and then throughout the day if it does it, its only a few puffs. its also always white smoke
