But still, It was nice.
I was cruising throught Luton Road today and I saw a Red mini parked in the forecourt in a garage with £1995 in the window.
Took a closer look, and it appeared to be a Cooper.
So, I take a closer look. I see RC40 chrome exhaust, Deep dish 12/6 Minilite wheels and sports pack arches, ALL cooper graphics and wing badge, Cooper half leather interior, Cooper steering wheel, burwallnut Dashboard and CD player, Spotlights and everything.
After a chat with the salesman, It turns out its only a 1300i Mini sprite (same as mine).
DAMN! :nugget:
But still, is it worth £2000 do you recon, Because im seriously thinking about buying it. From what I can tell its in very good condition although the wheels were a bit tatty, could do with rebubing.
from what I could see, everything was in good condition, mint bodywork.
Ill try and get a photo next time im out.

You can always ask, also if thats a manual it will sort the engine transplant out for you.

Mate, If I had £2000 to blow on a car, i really would have it. I bet its fast aswel. RC40 straight through 1275i Manual.
I might sell up and get it, See if I can get a quick sale for my car. Hopefully the PS2 and Flipout screen will attract peoples attention.

if its got the decals, and teh interior, its basicly a cooper anyway.... sadly, the spi coopers were no differnet mechnically to the other spi's as far as i know...... not in any mojor way anyway, both were 63bhp single point injection engines! i think the differences were entirely cosmetic.... so if its sound, you probably onto a winner!"

The SPI cooper has a different cam mate as did all the Cooper Minis and produced 63 horse power over the Sprite or Mayfair which produced 53 horse power over the 50 horse power of the carb models before.
The Cooper Was fitted with the injection system in 1992 with 63 horse power over the 1990 to 1991 cooper carb with 61 horse power. The rest of the range were fitted with fuel injection sometime in 1994. In 1997 the MPI was introduced power figures did not change much from that above. These were the factory figures and do not take into concideration the Cooper S Packs by Cooper garages
Do not get confused. Fuel injection does not in itself produce much more power over a carb. It mearly provides the engine with a far more acurate fuel ratio with varying loads in a closed loop control system thereby achieving higher ecconomy, lower emmisions and better drivebility( when the dam thing works correctly that is :nugget: ).
Since 1990 the cooper was fited with a slightly hotter cam than the base models and as such would produce slightly higher emmissions. Fuel injection was introduced in 1992 to get the car through the up and coming stringent European emmisions standards. As these standards tightened up the base models had to follow suit in 1994. Then as the standards tightened up even further, Rover in 1997 then introduced the twinpoint system which was more of a quick fix than an improvement. The reason fuel injection was fitted to the Mini in the first place was to keep the car in production, otherwise the Cooper would not have existed after 1991 and total production would have stopped circa 1994. If the twin point was not introduced, production would have ceased in 1997.
