If you want to drive the big articulated lorries you need to be 21 before you can start training. You will first of all need to pass your Category C which is the rigid lorry (no articulated trailer) then go on to C+E which is the big articulated lorry.

Its all changed now for us young ones, what my brother did but he could just take his HGV1 license because you can drive those 7.5 tonners on a normal license unlike me who needs to take a test.
Anyway the best bet if your really intersted is to try and get in with a company and they will pay for the test, like in my brothers case he started driving a 7.5 tonne lorry because you dont need a another license because he's old and they paid for him to do his hgv1 test(the big lorries) and i will mention it took him 10 attempts to pass it.

Just to add, don't be daunted by stories you hear about people taking a large amount of tests before passing. With good experienced quality teaching you have every chance of passing.

I hoping work will put me through mine one day. I allready drive the trucks around the depot, just need the license so i can break free through the gates lol

Infact I do alot of the depot driving, I find it easy, use the mirrors and jobs a good one. If uve seen our depot and how vehicles park and private cars are parked, its a tough job not to hit anything. These are fixed rigid HGV's by the way, not artics.

Hardest task ive done is reversing over the pit. Mainly because you cant see the pit and I didnt fancy getting 26ton of truck stuck in there.

dont bother getting your hgv mate, theres no money in it anymore. i've been driving for 16 yrs now, starting on the 7.5 tonner then my class 2 was £550, then my hgv1 cost me £970 for a weeks course, then a further £250 for a retest fee when i clipt a kerb (instant fail). passed on second attemp. got my self into a well known midland company an worked my way up through the classes. . no better thought off after 14 yrs service. now i drive the low loaders delivering the tarmac machines to the road works at night. i would not go back to working days again for less than £600 aweek. to much traffic on the roads now.
better off learning a trade like plumber, sparky, chippy.
