Just an observation, I'm not naming names as that's not how I work, but I don't think this place is as friendly a forum as it was when I first joined all those years ago. >_<

Are we all just depressed because of the credit crunch or is there a highly contagious form of Mardy Get Syndrome going around at the moment?

Its a sensitive subject but I think a lot of it is what plagues most forums - people not knowing when to shut up and walk away, and also people commenting on stuff just for the sake of it, inadvertently offending someone and causing a massive argument.

In all fairness though, there aren't *that* many threads that descend into metaphorical fisticuffs, its just that you tend to notice the argumentative threads more as they're often long and with inflammatory titles designed to grab attention. There are 100's of perfectly normal threads where people don't fall out and happily share the forum together.

I do think that TMF, as it grows, along with many other forums, will never please everyone and it is understandable that people fall out, its human nature, it just takes a bit of self-control from members to avoid arguments where possible.

I also think that we have a great moderating team, who, despite the tiny minority of people who seek to undermine them at any given opportunity, do a brilliant job of keeping the forum under control as much as they can given that they can't be on here 24/7.

Oh yeah, just thought I'd add that I don't think the argumentative-ness is anything new or anything to do with the current socio-economic climate, except that maybe some people have more time to spend on the forum now, who knows?

I've never questioned the mods ^^ I know modding isn't the easiest task in the world, I've done it myself!! There are times I could have metaphorically strangled some posters or smacked their heads together >_<

The other aspect was me attempting to elevate the mood :o I don't want this thread to descend into 'X vs Y', which it has the potential to do as a result of the subject at hand. :dontgetit:

It just seems that people are a little too eager of late to start 'trouble' over minor points... it's not a pleasant atmosphere to my mind, but then maybe I'm being a little over sensitive.

Oh no, I know you weren't doing that, I just wanted to say that sometimes other posters get a little bit shirty with the mods when they can't see the reason for a particular thing being done. Maybe we could install a virtual 'head smacking together' modification to the forum? >_<

I don't think it will turn into a nasty thread, your demeanor in the first post certainly wasn't aggressive in any way, and I hope mine didn't come across as that either!

I don't think you're being over sensitive either, it is true that people are starting a bit of bother un-necessarily, but it usually blows over, everyone has a bit of a virtual hug then its off to fight another battle the next day :o

I think it is people in general, not just this forum, that have got a little bit short tempered. Hot weather doesn't help either.
Yesterday, as mini united was trying to close some bloke threatened the attendents on a ride, the attendent said it was closing and the man went nuts, effing, jeffing and 'c'ing in front of the kids and then threating to 'give it to him Bristol style' saying he was going to mess him up! This crazy persons son didn't even want to go on the ride!

When I worked in the petrol station we used to see a lot more 'forecourt rage' when the weather got warmer.

I am a calm person :o peace man >_<

no it's not new, it just seems to happen for a while, then calm down, then start up again :o

i know i've had my moments in the past but i think some people have gone way too far lately with their attitudes in general to the point that i've been shocked.

i don't have a mini at the moment so my obsessive level of interest is being focused more on my cycling, even so i have made the decision to take more of a back seat on TMF >_<

I know what your saying g-d - and yeah there does seem to be a bit more anger about.

Who knows why, maybe it is the financial situation as this is obviously very stressful for most of us. But as well as that I think as PT said it is maybe a case of boredom and trying to get a reaction for the sake of it.

to be honest that is why I have not been on as much of late (and busy at work) as it starts to make me the same and the missus doesn't appreciate it. So now i read the thread think "meh same old same old" and move on.

Oh and sorry to appear like a loon at L2B, couldn't remember your name but def remember you and the uber shiny mini! >_<

You don't need to name names i know it's pointed at me because of my recen posts about S F M (possible some others as well), i think he should be banned from posting in the technical section as he clearly does not have a clue what he's going on about, it's not just one error he's made, in nearly everyone of his posts in the technical section he's wrong but he thinks he knows it all and despite all the recent occurances he still gives out wrong advice... a few months ago he was arguing against something i gave advice on and i've done it hundreds of times but he said you can't do it like that! he is one of the reason i stopped coming on here as much as well as all the *melon* stirers that have nothing better to do appart from spreading rumours and other crap..

there are some great people on this forum but then there are the keyboard warriors, know it alls who know nothing, sh*t stirers and backstabbers that have nothing better to do that ruin it..
