Is it possible to set the clutch up without the engine running, or is it a lot easier to do it while it is running?

Having now bled the system, when I press the pedal, the pushrod travels so far, but when i press it the second time, it only travels about half of that, and does not return to where it started?? im not really sure what im doing, can someone help before i break something.

many thanks

Nick

are you using any springs at the slave cylinder to assist it to return to the 'rest' position, and have you moved the position of the clutch actuation armature on the spline?

i've just got the spring that was origionally on the shaft, it looks like it does in the manual if you know what i mean? It just won't come back.

my dad did suggest using another spring to help pull it back, is this what you mean? I just feel once you had twisetd the original spring all the way round it was fairly strong, and wasn't sure what difference another would make?

I haven't any springs you don't rely need them the pressure from the internal diaphragm is more than enough to return everything! what you need to do is look down the shaft turn the arm anticlockwise until it stops then the shaft is in the correct position inside! then take the arm off the shaft & adjust it to suit on the splines!

(Hey presto) you will kick yourself when you sort it! i no i did LOL

The problem seems to be the return of the clutch arm after the initial pedal press! It only comes half way back, if you push it back it goes back to its original position but it doesn't seem to do it itself. Will having the engine running help this?
