i have managed to shear the bolt thingy that the throttle cable attaches to (on the carb), anyone know of a bodge repair just so i can get to my mechanics (not going to the mechanics for that, but he will have spare bits for me)

If you can get the bolt out then poke the cable through the hole where the bolt was and then just clamp an electrical cholocate box on the cable at the back side of the hole.

i think he meant these. There used to connect electric wire together. From any hardware shop.

replacing the whole cable is a piece of cake take ten minutes

the cable is fine, its the carb connector thingy thats goosed!

I've always called them chock blocks unless it's a electricians thing?
Will the cable go through the throttle housing.

If you have no choc-block then take an old 3 pin plug. Take one of the shoter legs out, chop off the leg and you have a block with a hole and screw.

Same thing, no travel.

I cut a groove out of a large washer, placed it behind, then tied a stiff wire around it using the groove to hold it in place. Still going strong 5000 miles later.

ok my bad i forgot that when mine went i had a spare. you need to buy a solderless nipple its what that bolt thingy is called mate

cheers everyone, i managed to use a block connector and it seems ok (for a temp job). i will let you know if i break down!
