Right, ive got just over 2 months till its my friends engagement party and quite frankly I don't have a clue as to what to get her and her fiancé present wise from myself and my girlfriend.

What kind of gifts are the norm for the occasion, and what suggestions do people have as to what we could get them?

May sound daft... but perhaps ask them?

and for the wedding day gift (if they're getting those as well!) something commemorative? like engraved / personalised something or other >_<

My two pennies!

I did approach her and asked if there was anything inparticular she fancied but she told me not to be stupid and that we didn't have to get her anything, but I feel like the occasion calls for it >_<

The wedding isn't going to be for another 3 years so I don't mind buying two lots of gifts really, so I suppose the engagement one could be somewhat smaller but still meaningfull and the main wedding present something more memorable.

I'm liking the ideas so far so keep them coming people :D

We can offer loads of persoanlised gifts, mugs, engraved keyrings, cavas's etc. Why not get something with a picture of them together on something with the date of the engaegement? That way it's something that has a meaning and is very personal. If you want to have a look at what we can do our website is www.nagzone-embroidery.co.uk

Well my and the wife never had an engageemnt party so missed out (but then we were engaged for 7 years >_<)

When we got married as we had lived together for 4 years (seperate beds obviously :D) we ended up with a lot of cash and debenhams vouchers as that was where we did our wedding list.

Depending on what thy need I would suggest vouchers - that way they can choose there own thing and put the value towards something bigger :D

Aww - if she said nothing then nothing would suffice but it is nice to give them a little something.

I'd get them a card, write something personal in there and get them a voucher to somewhere that they'd actually go shopping!
