Depends where you're standing, if in a posh box then consider a suit, (you HAVE to wear black tie in the royal box at Newmarket).

Otherwise, either shirt, (with tie in pocket just in case), or tweed and a check shirt.

Q. What should we wear?

A. There are no dress code restrictions at Towcester Racecourse. However, if you are dining in, the restaurant we do ask that guests dress appropriately in smart casual attire, no denim jeans or trainers.

Looks like you don't have to worry really

when we went to newbury for a 30th birthday, we dresses fairly smart, i went with a shirt and trousers as has been suggested. you see all types though from people that look like aristocracy to people that look like they're puttin their last fiver on a horse. the more posh parts probably have a dress code. when i was at newbury though i just walked straight into the most expensive section and nobody said anything to me (or checked for a ticket for that matter)
