hey
i have been thinking about making my mini a turbo mini and need some advice.
atm i have a block bored to 1330 with pistons, kent 266 cam, rebuilt mg metro box, heat treated crank.
im new to turbos but i have been in my mates r5 turbo running 12 psi and which i liked the feel of lol..
what c/r would i need to run that amount of boost??
should i buy a "off the shelf head" say stg 3 or have a 1275 head modded??
will the cam and crank i have be up to the job??
is it worth having the c/rods modded or will std ones be ok??
would having the crank wedged and bladed be in my favor or just a luxury??
if there is anything i have missed please let me know
any advice would be much appreciated

1330 Turbo?

From what ive learn so far during my turbo build and research.
Compression ratio : I think guys running over 12 psi of boost are usually look for about 8.5 but im unsure on this (one of the other boys will be along shortly to tell you exactly what you should be looking for)
Rods : Standard A+ will be fine but you could have them balanced, lightened and polised if you wish
Crank : Again should be fine. Regrind if its seen many miles, wedged, bladed, lightened and balanced if you wish. Should help the car pick up quicker.(if you gonna have it done get the rods done as well and have the whole bottom end balanced together)
Head: Off the shelf head will be no good. You will need to work out the current compression ratio of the engine and then purchase a head with the correct amount of CC's removed from the chambers to acheive the correct compression ratio.
There is guy on here ho does turbo heads check him out here

What pistons do you have fitted ? Some are more suitable for forced induction than others. Properly set up, there's no reason you couldn't keep the compression quite high, 9-1 or so, though you'll most likely be tempted with more boost in the future & I prefer to have some margin for error, so something like 8.8-1 is a good option.
266 cam is fine & providing the crank & rods are in good condition then all the standard A+ stuff is fine. Get it balanced if you wish, but most other things just aren't needed for most Turbo applications. I would use new rod bolts though, the ARP stuff is possibly a little OTT but if the budget allows.
You need to work out your current compression ratio, this will deterime how much material needs to be removed from the chambers in the head to give the correct compression ratio. If you have a head to be modified, this will work out slightly cheaper than buying one outright.

Contact Minispeed & find out what you've got. If you're going to change them then the Accralites from Avonbar come highly recommended.
What's the T2 from ? You can use a Weber, but basically it'll be a nightmare to setup & you'll have to seal it for a blow through setup. Stick to the good old Turbo HIF44, easy to tune & made for the job.
