Hi,hot fuse also could mean still got bad connections ,chop out the fuse connections and replace the whole thing .youve got alot of power trying to get through a dirty connection so you get a resistance hence why it gets hot.steve

When you say the fuel pump won't switch off, do you mean it runs all the time?

All the time regardless of ignition is on or off (key out and in pocket off) left it 20 mins and it was still going

A hot fuse suggests that its passing alot of current, which might suggest something shorting out. Combined with the fuel pump not switching off, I would look for wiring shorts in the cables going to the black relay box (where the fuel pump relay lives).

checked all cables i could see with nothing out of th ordinary. The footwell where the cables pass through the intrior was absolutely saturated though.

This is why I can now remove the relay board from the box,

Yep i can get into mine too. someone has been in to it before hand.

I may op into McDonnald Minis tomrorow to have it looked at.

Hmm. I think the relay is switched on by connecting its earth (the Ecu does this). Sounds to me like the earth for the fuel pump relay is shorting to earth somewhere in the loom. Or could be the ECU itself (less likely). Iwonder if it would tell anything if you disconnect the ECU multiplug - see if it stays on even then, that would suggest a short in the loom. OF course, it could always be that the fuel pump relay is fused on. But you could check that easily by removing the relay box and opening it up. If its stuck on, you would see that with it disconnected. The fuel pump relay is the bottom right one on the board, as you look down on the relay box in the orientation that it sits when in the car. The off position is to the 'top' (again, as looking down on it in the orientation it sits when in the car). If messing around in there, careful because its dead easy to accidentally push the starter relay (which also works with the key out!) and give yourself a heart attack, or worse knock yourself over if its in gear!!!

I'm on holiday in North Berwick mid July if it helps! :P

I disconnected the ECU and the Relays and the injector was still hissing. Im going to get the inline fuse and holder replaced tomorrow> I will also check the earths.

So in the end it was all down to a crappy line fuse connection? One to remember for me...

Glad to hear its OK now. Touch wood since cleaning up my crank sensor connector, mines not played up since.... Although I'm sure something fell off the car tonight on the way home. I'll need to have a look.. minis eh?

think it was in my case too. I often find that stones that I presume have got wedged in the tyre, come flying out at about 60 and hit the wheel arch. I bottle it every time!
