hi, i'm looking at buying a piper bp300 cam from a mate...it's never been used and i'm getting it dirt cheap. my engine is a standard 998cc with no mods, but i'm in the middle of totally rebuilding it and i'm wanting to cam it in the process.
my question is, has anyone ever used this cam? is it good? would it run ok in a 998? and advice? tips?
i just generally cant find enuf info about it. anyone know what sort of power increase it would give? and from what rpm to what?
thanks!

That's a full race cam. Although that might sound great, it has got ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do in a roadgoing car let alone a 998 one.

well is there a cam you would recomend for a 998?
the setup i plan is twin 1 1/4SU's, custom ram pipes, straight thru exhaust, stiffer valve springs, 12g295 bigvalve head and some other wee odds and ends. lol
i want it to have a good kick and good acceleration. it will spend most of it's life on the track...but will also be used as a road car. what u mean it's no use on road? just rip sheds out the clutch? or dus it just shoot off as soon as u drop the clutch, so cant be used inn town unless dipping alot?
mates mini has a good cam on a 998...it's very torquey...great acceleration but he also has the problem of pulling away from lights constantly dipping the clutch to prevent him shooting off! as soon as he taps the accelerator it jumps forward, although his is not very good top end.
is there a cam which gives me more high end power but wont totally mess up my low end power?...e.g. keep it drivable?

cheers dude...i like the look of the swiftune sw5-07, it's fast road and apparently just a better version of the sw5 which was a modernised version of the cooper cam i think :S? lots of good reviews, so shall c how it goes.
might just put my cam back in for now just to get it down to imm...i'm booked in but the mini hasnt even got sills yet! so need to get the welder running over the weekend and get the shell sorted...then paint, engine back in and get it rebuilt for an mot!
i can always put in a good cam afterwards, but dont really want to put old parts back in

still time yet!
