How To Install Windshield Locking Chromw

Hi

Im installing my windows and I have this Mini Spares Installation tool, but I think this tool is useless as I have had more luck with a flat blade screw driver to install this chrome locking strip

Haow are you giuys installing this locking/trim piece into you windshield?

Soapy water and push the tool through its easy and will take about 10 mins

I fitted the windscreen and rubber myself, then took the car to my local Autoglass. Cheekily asked one of the guys in the workshop if he could take a look for me and he did front and back in about 4 minutes for £5 :).

Its hard to describe, but plenty of lube is the key.


slide the tool onto the strip
insert the strip in the rubber to get it started , then tilt the tool backwards and apply foreward pressure, making sure the tool doesn't come out the groove.


This picture uses a different tool but principle is the same in this photo you would be pushing upwards, and the fillet strip would fall into the groove it makes behind.

Thanks Guys for the great advice. I got the front and the back finally in. The Hot water made the seal soft and things kinds fell into place after that
