ive been working on my 84 mayfair for about 3-4months now
and im almost to the point where i can start building the system for it
i got into box building when i was young because i didn't have the money to have a shop custom build me a box
for my single cab truck, and they said i couldn't fit two 12's behind the seat,
so i said forget them and built it myself
at 1st i had mtx blue thunder 12's in this box and then i upgraded to some mtx thunder 5000 12's
i got my parents to help cover it with blue vinly
then back in 2002 i got a dodge neon and built this box for the car off of 400watts, using a mtx thunder 5000 12
and then i got a ext-cab truck and wanted to build a system for it
i always wanted to try jl, so i got my hands on a jl audio 18w6 and powered it with a jbl gto 1200.1(1400w)
wasn't happy with the bass from the jl sub
and then i got my hands on a 2nd hand tc sounds tc-9 12, kick the dirt out of the jl in everyway, powered by the same jbl amp
traded the jl sub and 4 re-8's for a 2nd hand treo csx 15,
i loved the treo sub but didn't have the amp power to push it, so it sat for 3yrs and then i sold it
i used the treo for a month and then i found a un-used brand new sealed in the box treo ssi 18, the alittle brother to the csx, worked out fine with the jbl amp, one of the cleanest subs i have every heard, killed the tc-9,
so then i wanted more bass
so i ended up with a pair of shocker extreme magnets(25pounds) and 18in baskets for about $400 us dollars
and another 200 us dollars plus shipping to have a company named atomic build them up into
dual 1ohm subs, and i got my hands on a ma audio hk802sx amp(4400w@2ohms) for $400 us plus shipping
with this set up and a ton of sound mat, a few optima batteries, and about 500amps in alternator power,
on a test tone the system put up a 167db's and was doing about 155-156 on music
custom built 18's with 4400w and a big 14cube bandpass box, bed lined everything in the cab before putting sound mat,
and alittle bit of a build down from the roof
so now since i moved again, i could only ship one vehicle, so i sold the truck with the system
ive used or built custom boxes for tons of highend subs on the market, everything from
type r's type x's, mtx, rockford, dd audio, atomic, treo, tc sounds, cerwin vega
i did a set up in a chevy s-10 with two type r 12's, 2000w amp, 200amp alt, and a full mat job
and the truck was doing 155 on a tone,
another s-10 with two type x 12's with 4000watts and was doing 160-161 on a tone
so if anyone wants to come on down to ip28 for some super bass or a nice sq system,
let me know and i will build boxes on the weekend for the right price
