Model: Austin Mini City.
Year: 1986

Okay, in brief, my hazards don't work - but don't worry, I'm pretty sure thanks to this forum I've got the answer - replace the fuse.

I took the fuse out from the purple/orange wire and trapsed around town trying to buy a replacement. But couldn't.

Maplin told me they don't stock those fuses, because the one I took out the car was a 'Time Delay' fuse (15a) and they don't have those.

I went to an electrical place and they told me that all their fuses were shorter than that.

So, what fuses am I supposed to be using?

The one that came out is 15amp, glass, 29mm in length and has 'TDC 91 15A' written round the metal tip. I've seen fuses that are the same in Halfords, BUT they don't appear to be this mystical 'time delay'.

Can I use any glass fuse, as long at it's the right 'amp' and length?? Or does it have to be this impossible to find type?

Thanks!!

Blown fuses are almost always a symptom not the cause of problems. I wasn't aware of there being anything special about the hazard circuit fuse, but I can see how there could be: hazard flashers have a heater element in them that would generate a momentary current surge. You could try a normal fuse and see how long it lasts, have you tried a motor factors or auto electrician?

Check out if there's a short somewhere that would have blown the fuse.

I just had this problem with my 93 mayfair... i had to change the hazard switch. I had before that changed the signal stalk, fuses and relay. The hazard switch fixed it! But this was after I had to bring it to a shop cause I couldn't deal with it anymore. So, my 120 (parts and garage) quid cost may only cost you 17 for the switch

Update!

I tested the fuse, and it's fine. Great.

So the hazards don't work, nor does the interior light - so it must be electrical, like dodgy connections surely? I'll have to check these. Where should I be checking? The wires round that long plastic fuse holder? Or elsewhere?

The joys of Mini owning there.

Shorts on the interior light or door switches are common, but if the fuse is intact start by pulling the hazard switch and checking the purple/orange is live.
