Hello all,

I had a brief breakdown today. I'd gone about 3 miles and stopped at a cash point for 2 mins. When I got back in and tried to start it, nothing. Absolutely dead. No light coming on or anything.

So I got under the bonnet at had a look for blown fuses, all seemed fine there. I just shock the loom a bit and that seemed t solve it and its been fine since. Its only done it once before, so any ideas where to start fault finding?

Once I got the car started I noticed the stereo wasn't working. I got home and checked the fuse and that the wires on the fusebox were secure. Everything fine there.

Into the cabin, I took the side off the centre console and started checking the connections there and whether there was power getting through. Checked the stereo's earth. All fine.

Starting to get a little annoyed, it suddenly struck me........

I hadn't switched it on. :)

You could try checking the connections on the solenoid first, making sure they are clean and not corroded, then move a little further up the loom and do the same to the earth point on the bulkhead, if all is well there check all connections on the fuse box, check the terminals are good and clean and clean the contacts that hold the end's of the fuses. Hopefully you should find something there.
Happy hunting.
Giles.
