Can you not remember how quick and easy it was to join TMF in the first place...?

Sorry to put a dampener on the idea, but if someone wanted to scour this site for a mini, it wouldn't take much.

EDIT... beat me...

Unless you want to show your address in your "about me "page I dont see how a potential thief would find his way to your car from any posting on here. There is nothing to stop thieves becoming members either. What evidence do you have that thefts are linked to posts here?
With the exception of the late Coopers they have always been one of the easiest targets on 4 wheels. Don't get me wrong, my son runs a Mk1 as daily transport and I worry about this, but I feel it's better to dwell on prevention as I think this would be the best deterrant.

If you are worried about things such as that pitcrew, you need to take all the steps you can to prevent it.

Such as
- blanked regs on photos
- general region rather than town or village in the location field on profile
- take photos which dont show any landmarks, places of work, houses etc which could easily be identified.

People join this forum after reading posts and topics, so making the forum private could damage the amount of geniune people joining here for there mini kicks.

How many minis have been stolen or ID's used from information found on forums? I dont know of any.....?

Good idea in ways, but in practice I dont think it would work...

Two options, delete your reg from your photo's.

Not sure if pictures can be hidden to non-registered users.

Your security has to be your own responsibility:

Even if we took DNA samples off all members, there's nothing that can control where forum content can end up with just a simple cut 'n paste or screen grab. The only safeguard is not to upload sensitive info in the first place - see Jordie's advice.
