I think that if you put a safety belt in your Mini and that it is fitted the same way as all the others then its fine??

My Dad used to fit seat belts when I was a child to hold the baby seat in

But if I am wrong DON'T do it!!

My dad managed to get 3 of us on the back seat too, pre seatbelt era.

The other major issue is what it says on the V5 & insurance cert.

? minis are 5 seaters

mine has 2 proper seat belts and a lap belt in the middle so 3 seat belts in the back and are standard fittment cant remember year they started to fit them

as a kid always went around in a mini and there were 3 kids plus my parents never had any problems till where in late teens then was a bit of a squeeze

My problem is that all of my three at in car seats... and these equate to very fat bums!
So it's not really doable, even if I had the middle belt.

The only reason you need the booster seat is to raise the child up so that there body is in the right place one a 3point belt. If you only have lap belts, there is no need for it.

If im wrong the law is an ass, but they would have one hell of a time trying to justify needing a booster seat for a lap belt.

Edit, sorry, just realised you have a '98, so you probably have 3 point belts in the back.

I was about to say they're 4-seaters in the log book, carrying +1 could result in being stopped by the police, and invalidating insurance.

Only possibility I can think of is a third row of seat in an estate, but I'm not sure there's enough room.

I'm fairly sure they're 4 seaters only.

My log book doesn't say though
