Model: cooper
Year: 2000 v plate
the fuel and the temp guage have stopped working and from reading forums i believe it to be the voltage stabalizer... i have figured out how to remove the dash by removing the 3 nuts behid the air vents and radio.. but the dash is still held in by the speedo cable...., i don't want to force it and break the cable end or the plastic pod, so if anyone has a the knowledge of what to do to get the speedo cable safely disconected from the instruments i would apreceiate it...... i am assuming that the voltage regulator is on the inside of the plastic pod becaue i cant see or feel anythin on the outside. here is a link to an instument pod i have found on ebay which looks just like mine http://cgi.ebay.co.u...bayphotohosting any mini gurus out there withe the knowlege to help would be apreciated.

You should be able to gain access to the speedo cable through the aperture for the radio/cassette unit, disconnect it and the dash should come free (apart from wiring). Looking at my Rover manual, the stabiliser appears to be part of the pod and I would have assumed it to be a "replaceable" item but can't find anything when searching MiniSpares (apart from pre 1988 cars)??????
Edit - added parts lists for Smiths and Nippon Seiki Instrument Pods - looks like the latter (fitted 1989 on) did not have stabiliser at the back of the pod - need someone that knows a bit more than me????

My fuel gauge stopped working the otherday
. My temp gauge (in a 3 gauge cluster; speedo, fuel+temp. rev) still works, but the fuel gauge doesn't. It's sort of weird.
I have another fuel gauge in my mini though, but that's not even hooked up yet.

the speedo cable is the same as the fiesta you just press the clip and it should slide off make sure to disconnet the actuall wire from inside out of the clocks as u can pull it all the way out
