also guessing you weren’t boarded by Nigerian pirates or Ross Kemp looking for said pirates at any time?

Safe to say the exhaust is now fine. Now to the distributor. Going to a scrapyard tomorrow to see if i can find some metro engines to get a dizzy off.
Sorry but i don't have any pictures becuase it was raining really heavily so i didn't have time to take any. Will get some tomorrow if i get a dizzy.
Cheers,
Andrew

20 pounds and some new points from m machine in darlington (which turned out to be used

Got it timed up and it works a charm. Need to get the fueling and timing sorted together at a rolling road so they work properly. Even so, it works a lot better than the old dizzy.
And even more good news, my exhaust now clears the pot joint and the floor so no more scraping and banging (which is always a plus). The before and afters:

Looks a lot better. However the middle box is now catching on the bolt from the passenger side seat belt catch so it just needs moving round to clear it.
As always happens though, good comes with the bad. My lights decided not to work one night when i was supposed to be going to my girlfriends (didn't get any pictures because there was no time and nothing worth taking a picture of). Basically checked all the fuses and wires to make sure we hadn't knocked anything when doing the distributor earlier that day. It turns out it was a bad earth in the headlight (which my dad fixed the next morning while i was at my girlfriends - Cheers Dad
Did sustain a couple of injuries aswell, took a chunk out of my finger and my nail got caught in the alternator fan (this was on the night because i couldn't see the fan spinning).
So all in all, not a bad week for the mini.
Cheers,
Andrew

The car has been dropped off at the rolling road this morning so it's time to see whether this new dizzy works. Hopefully it does and ron can sort the fueling out.
Cheers,
Andrew
P.S. i think i've decided what the new engine will be next year so i'll probably start sourcing parts soon to get prepared for it.

Can't thank him enough. The new dizzy however is centrifugally advancing slightly early but not that bad. He said if i get some pinking bring it back but it sounds good to me from the drive home. Also the coil is a low resistance one and could burn the points out quicker than usual but i have spares in the car. If it does i'll just grab the coil from the scrapyard and fit that. No great shakes.
I'll get a video later of the car.
Cheers,
Andrew

What's the new engine plan?

It's definitely going to start as a 1293/1310. But i'll end up wanting to supercharge it so i'll probably make it a low compression to start with and then add the supercharger later on when funds allow. Or, alternatively, wait until funds allow and get the engine and supercharger at the same time.

I'm popping into town this morning for an eye check up so hopefully i'll get one then.

Sounds good, so your going too go with a tame cam then?
Should be a good improvement over the 998.
You planning on a supercharger kit or custom jobby?
Imo you should go custom and add a charge cooler, realy get some decent power more reliably.

Yeh i'll probably get a kent 266 or similar (i'll more than likely get the engine from MED so it will be the piper equivalent).
Yeh should be a lot faster than the 998
Custom jobby me thinks. Mini mad daps makes manifolds i think and i'll source a supercharger off the bay of E.
Don't know much about charge coolers. Do they cool the supercharger down or the air flow?
EDIT: Did take a video however the radio was too loud in parts and you can't see the road lol. Need a good mounting point for the camera to sit on. Any ideas? I was thinking the top of the head rest?
Cheers,
Andrew

With chargers/turbo's you need to monitor the air temperature. You could fit 2 guages to monitor temp before cooler and before the charger to monitor how efficent the cooler is.
