The spec on the Works Rally engine, obviously changed from rally to rally and class to class, but we'll take a list from the Gp. 2 German Rally

The Specification - Roughly

BLOCK
Surface Skimmed to 10thou off piston crown
Over Bore +20 thou
Honed
Chemical Clean
New Cam Bearings Fitted

PISTONS, CRANK AND RODS
Balanced cross drilled
Rods lined up and balanced
Pistons +20 thou with hole drilled for oil in boss
Sprockets on cam and crank, lightened and lined up correctly

CAMSHAFT AND VALVE TRAIN
649 Camshaft (AEA648)
Cooper S Rocker assembly

CYLINDER HEAD AND FUELING
12.6 to 1 compression ratio
Cooper S head (Inlet modified)

Twin 1 1/2 Inch Carburettors
float chamber extended
B.G Needle
Downton Induction kit

GEARBOX
Straight Cut Close Ratio
4.26 Final Drive

CLUTCH
Lightened Balanced Fly Wheel and Backplate
Orange Rally Spec Clutch Plate
Friction Plate AP

THE REST
Bypass hose Blanked
Points and ditributor
4 blade flan
Wire attached 13lb radiator cap!

I like the sound of that spec but i'm not sure whether the 648 would be too much. Plus i think the final drive would absolutely do my nut in on the way to shows, ha. Bleeding and ears springs to mind, ha.

FD would probably need changing, something like a 3.44 ('the mini ratio') will be well suited! 649 is not too bad.....I can get some figures for it if you like?

Right so, its going to be a lot more cammy than the SW-10 that you were looking at, and I've got waiting to go into engine.

I think that'll be too cammy for me mate. I still want to be able to go to the shops and back without leaving 11's at every set of traffic lights, ha. Thanks for the info though bud .

Why are engines so expensive . Just priced it up what i want and it's in excess of 1k . Didn't think it would be this much. It's not even massively spec'ed. Best get saving a bit more than i planned then .

It's now looking increasingly likely that i'll have to sell this car now. I have nowhere to store it and this engine refurb is going to cost far more than i imagined.

Plus i'm moving to doncaster at the end of this month so i wont have any time to actually use the car .

So if anyone wants a tidy city E then send me a pm .

Might think about getting a minus in the next couple of years and then no worries about rust, ha.

Okay, i've finally decided that i'm going to have to sell the car. I don't have anywhere to store it and i wont get any time to use with me having a new job in september.
