The head on the A series at my dads work has bigger valves than the ones in mine so it sounds like a good one to do some porting on .

What nr is that head?

Don't know yet bud. I'll post it up when my dad gets in from work because i think he's bringing it home today.

AH good work, Ive got piles of 998 heads here, your welcome to one if the one off your dad's mate falls through.

My computer at work played ball today so i've got some pictures.

This is the cylinder head that the head gasket blew on. It's had a skim and looks pretty nice:



However it does have a small crack, barely noticable, between the bores but it doesn'ty go right through from the 1 to 2:



Just purchased one of these to try and deter thieves from stealing my baby:

Bought some halfords classic engine oil aswell so i might give it an oil change tonight because it may have petrol in the oil from the blown head gasket.

Found out last night though that the head of the engine at my dads work has been left out in the rain with the carb mouth open . It only had 42k miles on the clock aswell. Could have so easily been saved. Nevermind.

The valves on that head are the same size as the ones i already have. My dad was on about another engine that his mate has with bigger valves. It's all rusty inside the bores so my dad left it to soak in acid dip overnight at work so it should be all nice and shiny when he brings it home .

Just standard i think bud. The rest of the head hasn't been modified so i don't think the valves have either.

Get that other head tonight though so i might have a go at some porting .

Finally got the pictures uploaded of the free head i got from my dad's mate:

I'm taking it down to teesside motor factors tomorrow morning to see what can be done to it to get it back into shape so if it's not worth saving then i'll probably just buy a decent head and practise some porting on the fubbard one .

And finally the good news: we put the cylinder head back on anyway because my dads mate from work has an a 998 A+ series engine sat on a subby at work and said that we could have the head for free . I'm going to drop him a few squids anyway though as a thank you.

Lol it looks fubbard like the head. It's gunna cost £200 to get 8 new seats put in by teesside motor factors . So i'm not sure whether i'll be using it.

Went down to see tony today. Have you seen the head his son has ported? Looks amazing! I'm gunna go down and have a look through his container like. Miht get some more free parts .

Is tony your boss like?
