Maybe insinst on getting an original Rover speedo cable - they'r superb quality!
Most failures - in my experience - are related to the speedo cable

There are two types of speedo cables: for the big centre binnacle (held by a union nut) and for the 3 gauge cluster (held by a plastic clip).

Ah right. Cheers Jan. I think the clip might have broken/fell off so i may need a new one. Think i'll just have keep attaching it until september when i get the binnacle out.

Andrew

Opened up the bonnet and this is what i found:

Yep, my top hose had gone spectacularly lol. Good job i had one on my minispares order. It has been looking decrpit for a few weeks now so i ordered one (fortunately lol).
Aswell, i rang up a local motor tuning guy (very well respected in classic car tuning) called Ron Harper. Used to own a tuning shop on linthorpe road but got sick of numpty's wanting absolutely mahooooosive exhaust on cars that just won't work so he opened up a workshop for classic cars out in the sticks instead.
He owns a mini 30 and said it keeps up with the old coopers (so it's pretty quick lol). He also said i wont need a rolling road because he already has a needle developed for the mini 1000
Hopefully a better update tomorrow.
Andrew
