I have just finished spraying a car in candy Red, the one I used was a colour called wine fire red, it is slightly darker than candy apple, it is a stunning colour that will show off every curve of a mini. On the car I done I used, x3 litres of primer, x4 litres of silver base coat then 4 litres of candy paint topped off with 3 Litres of lacquer. Then wet flatted the whole car with 2000 grit wet & dry & buffed & polished, it came up like a glass bottle and the owner was well impressed. The thing with candy paints is that the more coats you put on the darker the colour goes. Personnally I love using them because thay are that bit different, not the run of the mill red, blue green etc, etc. Don't want to add to your dilemma but candy paint is also available in many other colours aswell, blue, green, pink, gold, yellow etc, etc. The effects of these paints can be changed by what base colour you put under them,
Hope this helps out & doesn't make things worse.
