Sorry for my poor English, but a friend of me was making a offer. He build a open exhaust pipe, with 50mm exhaust. Without dampers/mufflers. Direct from the exhaust manifold.

I said yes, let's try that.

Now I'm curious how that sounds, the engine is a 1300 Metro A+. I know it will not be a comfortably sound, but is it a impressive sound of racing? Or what? What is your personal opinion? >_<

Anyone?

Hi there,

You would call that a 'straight through' exhaust. I imagine it will sound extremely loud, and I'm pretty sure it would be illegal. I hope there are not alot of Police on the roads where you live!

Unless my estimation is wrong - I've never actually heard one. Funnily enough my dad drove a min van in the 60's and he had a straight through exhaust on that!

I think it will be very loud and not good for performance.

I live in the Netherlands, so it could be illegal. But I'll risk that. Just for the experience..

It will be very loud indeed, but sounds it impressive, a racer, or sounds like the engine is damaged or what? >_<

I also have the same and to be honest the noise isn't as bad as people say and power really isn't affected.

In my opinion they sound great but as people say, it could be bad for performance. Take a look at this video if you want to hear what a mini with a straight through exhaust from the manifold sounds like.

If your going to do it, do it properly, start with the manifold and try to improve on an LCB or 3 into 1, or maybe design your own. Try using a flow analysis and do some research into shape and diameter. I know a friend of mine designed a system for a toyota engine and do a lot of reseach into the correct calculations and had the system built and worked very well.

PM me if you want more info.

Why not build an engine that sounds fast - because it can go fast? - rather than making something sound big that really isn't.

All talk and no trousers is not impressive.

i will be slower than an electric wheelchair lol... u need a bit of backpressure with a 5 port/ a series engine for it to run beautifully :gimme:.

when my dad had his pickup he had an lcb to a motorbike race can on intead and it wasnt any good so he swapped back to the minisport 1.

and how does back pressure increase the efficiency of an engine?

I feel another heated debate...

I've run mine without an exhaust for fun for 3 days,
by the 2nd day I had ibuprofen in my car constantly...
It sounds nice and is fun but you will get sick of it and the attention.
