i'm running a 92 cooper 1.3i and am wondering what are the main differences between 10" to 12" wheels.
The inner arches are already cut and its got a Copper SPi kit on it so the arches are already pretty wide, so im not worried about fitting issues more about driving difference.
Also do I need a certain size to get over the front discs or would 10's fit?
Cheers

10 inch alloys will require 7.5 discs on the front to allow them to fit then will need spacers on the rear drums to avoid rubbing on radius arm.
12s will fit over 8.4" discs
afraid thats all i know
what size alloys are you currently running? is it 13s as you said the arches are pretty wide?

brake conversion kit from 8.4" dwn to to 7.5" is bit pricey but im sure the bits could be bought separately which may work out cheaper
i plan on going down to 10s when the money allows it to

10's accel better and handle alot nicer IMO!

10's have a larger tyre wall which will increase roll in the corners and give a gernally softer ride, and are more likly to lead to un even wear on the tyres.
This is a generaliseation and i am not saying that the tyre on ten inch wheels do wear unevenly, just that they are more likly to, especially under hard cornering.
I am going for 12inch wheels, unless i can find some 10x6 wellers for a decent price, just because i like the look of them.
Guess im lucky since i already have 7.5 inch disc's and calipers

Hope this helps

In theory, 12 wheels will handle the best, Because they give a low profile tyre, without being too low like on 13's, and they are also not so wide that they dont get enough heat into them.

I actually found my 10's gave a worse ride and little bumps such as cats eyes were more noticable... anyonce else found this??

I'd have to say that I'd disagree with pretty much everything Burnard said.
12's give a much better ride than 10's
10's handle much better and look cooler!!!
Never been a fan of 13's.
For a weekend toy its 10's all the way, for a driver its 12's

I think that's more bound to high(er) offsets, resp. increased positive scrub radius...

Dont want to start an argument, but shouldnt that be the other way round?
Unless you mean 'driver' asin long distance every day car.
Surely a driver who likes a car that handels would then prefer 10's?

Yup, I mean driver as in a daily driver.
