Total so far a shade over £2500

I think its time to stop counting the costs!

My mates who have seen both of our cars have all said yours is nicer, and you've spent half of what i've spent on mine.

So count yourself lucky. My engine cost nearly triple what your car did to buy in the first place.

Bodywork looks good so far. Now let's get that engine to match it!

Ben

Well if we get it stripped tonight that will be a start. I am bidding on a 1293 block on ebay at the moment, dont think I will win though, I have only bid £50

1275 is now completly stripped, ready to be dipped, painted and rebuilt.

My camera isn't great.

Fully stripped 1275 block.

All of the crank journals are like this, so will need a polish, maybe a grind and oversize shells.

mymini007 will probably take some pictures of his engine in proper light today.

I am normally very disorganised (see garage in background) so if I don't bag and tag like this i will looses them.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail :)

Just spoken to the engineering company down the road,

Crank polish £25
Crank grind £8 per journal
Hone block £25
Chemically clean block, pistons, rods and crank, £35

If the block needs a regrind he will do that too.

Should have it all beck by the end of the week.

haha im the same, im constantly taking the stripes on and off and putting spots on and off (binned the spots now so im not tempted tho lol :D)

did you have a target look? i didnt as such it just materialised as it is now lol :P

I was going for the sportpack late cooper to start with, then MWS ballsed up my wheel order so the SP arches had to go, ant the only ones that would fit over the cut outs in the arches were the GP 6 Wides, so its kind on gone from there really, so looking towards the sort of Mk 1/ Mk 2 race/rally car of the late 60s and the interior of a miniature Bentley/Jaguar kind of thing.

If that makes sense :)

haha yes that makes sense. a luxury cruiser. im not sure where to go on mine next i think im going to just cut my losses and get a clubman.

i loving the sounds of the plan, especially the interior. ;)

The interior is pretty much there, 90% just need 3 x 52mm dials, and some nice seatbelts as the grey ones look rank, I have some black ones, but I would really like cream or green.

Ah but if your anything like me, even after labelling all the nuts and bolts and putting them all in separate bags fro my rebuild, you’ll still lose them. :dontgetit:

Or maybe that’s just me, either way I’d be screwed if I were a squirrel.

Not tooo bad, I have had a couple of paint reactions, but it looks ok if you squint from 20 yards, once I give it a rub down and polish it will look better.

I left the seam strips on and painted over them, I knew if took em off I would not get them back on, its just a temporary fix until I can afford to get it done properly.

The paint is off the shelf from halfords, in rattle cans.
