Great progress - Your lucky to have nice workshop like that!

I would of taken those shock mounts off though before putting the wings on - They're a water trap and usually rot right through at the same rate at the other front end panels.

If you do take them off though, soak the bolts in some release agent for a while first as the studs may well snap.

I have had problem after problem with the red block, something is not right, as the crank will not spin freely, so I have gone over to the other engine, So stripped and de-greased it last night,

Blew out any evidence of oil and water,

I have bought a new 276 cam, so that will be fitted this week hopefully along with the new followers and duplex timing gear.

check the thrust bearings if your crank is stiff to turn. i had the same problem on mine and it just took some wet dry sanding of the thrusts to losen it up

when you ordered your big end bearing were they for a reground crank could be the bearing are way too tight or could be one is fitted slightly of kilter and has crushed when bolted down stopping movement

More problems,

The cam has too much float, and the duplex chain will not sit right, cam and crank do not line up

Surely its not supposed to be this difficult????????

Not tried yet, but its the first on the list, could be a worn cam thrust washer too.

Made some progress, A panels lined up ready for welding, ratty is going to take a look at my engine, and the car is on the ramps, instead of on the floor.
