I think....its time to give up. There is no way this will be ready in time for the riv run >:(

Basically the chap who is helping me has lost interest and needs his ramps back, He keeps breaking stuff. Managed to snap a master cyclinder bolt last night. so I now have to take the pedal box out.

As well as the gear shift problem. I am about one more problem away from putting it on a trailer and scarpping the whole lot !

No....I didnt have it running tonight, I was about 6 inches short - literally.

Managed to get the exhaust fully fitted.
the carb is back on, the rad hoses are on, the heater hoses are on - all bar 6 inches, the fuel pump is connected to to the carb, The thermostat is in and bolted up.

I need to get the slave cylinder sorted and the bolt for the master cylinder drilled out, connect up the remaining bit of hose for the heater, and move the coil so the loom from the dizzy reaches >_<

I think that is it!!!!!!!!!!

Lost a few posts, so here is a brief recap

Slave cylinder on

Posted Image

Got all wired and plumbed in, exhaust on

Posted Image

Running briefly

Posted Image

Head gasket leaking, stinking of petrol, Ummmm, all a bit rubbish

Sooo,

Off with the head

Posted Image

Put some petrol in the bores to see if the rings were leaking.

Posted Image

All good, nothing leaking through, so cleaned it out and back on with the head

Posted Image

Tonight I got the rest back on, manifold, carb, all the plumbing back on.

Fired it up, ran it for about 15-20 minutes, all seems good, seems to run well, quite a bit of oil on the manifold so was a bit smokey and the exhaust was rattling and I can hear a leak so still a few bits to do

Its off to slarks on thursday for a rolling road session and mot, so the next few days will be bolting the lights back on and the other bits for the mot

If you can't get the split pin in, use an R clip, much easier

New accelerator cable arrived today, so thats that fitted. :D

Still concerned about the gear linkage does not feel right.

Bled the clutch, got a new choke cable, but not fitted yet

Left to do

Dash fitting
Windscreen
Paint
Fit lights etc

test drive

Once its got the MOT, I need to fit the rear springs, so whilst all thats off I will shultz the rear arches.

Home straight now I think

Got the choke all connected up.

The gear linkage may have been solved but I still need to have a play, it seems rover made 2 different length gear linkages. This could be the cause of my problems.

Suppose I had better go and take the gear linkage off then!?

Remove gear lever, check that the push rod has not rotated 180 degrees. The cup that the ball on the end of the gear lever goes into should be at the bottom of the enclosure ie below the centre line of the push rod. If its located at the top remove the roll pin rotate 180 degrees and refit

Thanks John,

That was the problem first time round, but still a problem, I have now decided that I think the linkage is too short, pre 92, and my subframe is Post 92. So I therefore need the longer linkage.

Pop to Somerford at lunch time to get the longer one, and try again, then maybe MOT this week - fingers crossed.

Just picked up the longer rods.
Bent the bold last night getting in out so got a new one of these, but got a nasty feeling I need to take the manifold off to get the bolt back in
