Minifin rear drums. £45.00
Stainless side trims £17.50
alloy door handles £20.00
John Cooper pedals £15
Want to strip the front down and get rid of some rust this week.
Then I can fit my MK 1 grille that I have had sat in the garage for about 6 months.
Drove the car for the first time in the dark with no street lights, the H4 light conversion is one of the best upgrades I have done to the car. I now have better lights than my wifes 2001 volvo.
Had a bit of a flap getting the car ready for the riv run, but its fully MOTd and drove like a dream all the way down and back, although going up hill is a bit of an effort. 50mph if I am lucky. So the 1275 will be going in soon.

All sorted, new exhaust looks great, and I fitted new rear brake shoes and handbrake cable, new front discs, new front ball joints, new wheel bearing. (looked fine when I took it out.)
The shock bushes had nothing wrong with them, and the offside lower ball joint passed the next test without me changing it. (different testing station)

Off with the shiny stuff

Knot wheel goes to work, no holes so I must have caught it in time, took the crispy bits down to some solid steel, and sprayed on some rust eater stuff, then some high build primer, then some more, then a guide coat of red primer and kept building up the primer, I would say it needs 2 more coats of the high build and it will be getting some where near. I filled a couple of little dents in the wings, I will pist up the progress as it happens

Rust treatment and some primer to protect the bare metal

And while I was waiting for the paint to dry

Got the polish out!
Will post up the results when the rain stops

you have gone for a very similar style to me (now like my avatar but without the spotlights, or like my sig but with stripes). they look pretty similar bar the colour and a few little changes.
best of luck with it.

Thanks, I am thinking of losing the bonnet stripes and the dots on the doors, just to maybe understate it a little, got a bit carried away with the vinyl when I first bought the car

My mates who have seen both of our cars have all said yours is nicer, and you've spent half of what i've spent on mine.
So count yourself lucky. My engine cost nearly triple what your car did to buy in the first place.
Bodywork looks good so far. Now let's get that engine to match it!

haha im the same, im constantly taking the stripes on and off and putting spots on and off (binned the spots now so im not tempted tho lol
)

I was going for the sportpack late cooper to start with, then MWS ballsed up my wheel order so the SP arches had to go, ant the only ones that would fit over the cut outs in the arches were the GP 6 Wides, so its kind on gone from there really, so looking towards the sort of Mk 1/ Mk 2 race/rally car of the late 60s and the interior of a miniature Bentley/Jaguar kind of thing.
If that makes sense
