hey

mine and mates mini went on a rolling road for the 1st time 2day.

ive got a 1275 metro
fast road cam
hif44
and rc40 exhaust

and it made 59.5 at the fly wheel, isent set up great tho. what do u think it should be doing. my next port of call is some head work and twin hs4's

i was a bit worried as i changed my head gasket about an hour before the run

the tester said it would have been a little higher but the wind own bit wasn't reading very well, if that makes sense

well I made 56 at the flywheel on a stage 1 998, so I would of thought you should make more

Where did you go for the session? - sounds like you need to Get you money back and go somewhere that knows what they're doing.

it wasnt a rolling session it was just a power run, was only 25 quid so well worth it, dont worry he wasnt gettin taken for a ride.

Nope, only put 33 at the wheels tho, not too bad for running on 13's and a questionable gearbox the RR guy said he believed there was a fast road cam in there but I'd put a question mark over that as I thought it was standard cam.

by the way as far as I'm aware a power run isn't wise if the engine isn't setup correctly in the first place, may cause damage. Only based on worrd of mouth tho, so I stand to be corrected.

Ah i see- my mistake, the OP didn't didn't say it was just a power run so I wrongly assumed he'd gone to have the car set-up, which sounds like it's what it needs really. 59 at the fly is pretty low I would expect something closer to around 70 at the fly..

It is odd to do a power run without checking the car over and assessing the set-up - I take it he operator did a thorough examination pre-run?

opps should of said it wasn't a tuning session.
its was a last minute thing, spur of the moment jam it on there see what its putting out

regarding retro 10 now u mention it there was no check involved, my car is running poor, any suggestion on tuning? other than a rolling road session
as im planning a new head and twin carbs very soon, so would want to pay out then.

Get the new engine bits done, tune it so it run's OK.
Run the head in abit.. shouldn't need too much but you know, then take it for a RR set up.

Correct me if i am wrong anyone?

Hmmm sounds interesting, for that price, I know a few people who might want to go for a shootout out some point, and we are only in Melton Mworbay , so not that far away either.

I'd recommend getting it set-up correctly before doing any sort of Modifications that improve performance. Modifications of this nature will often Make symptoms of incorrect running a lot more apparent - they can even flag up terminal problems with the engine... so it makes sense to know you've got a good engine that's set-up correctly before throwing go faster mods at it.

Leicester isn't that well placed in terms of mini specialists - but if you can bear the 1 hour drive then Southam Mini Metro Centre isn't that far.

For now I'd give it a darn good hard Service and see if that irons out any problems, Since you've done a power run - it would be adviseable to keep the graph they gave you, this will be a good indication to the next RR operator of what to expect, although different Rollers give different readings.

Any Operator worth their salt should give a car a check over before putting on the rollers especially on a bare power run. Walk away and find somewhere more reputable that know's Minis well
