My dad built a locost a few years back and it's making me want to build a space frame car, rwd maybe - mini powered?
rwd for the win :)

any hints on what to build? or scratch build?

oh and has to be cheap as im building my self as in welding and crap like that so no kit cars bit if thers plans i can build frame from and stuff like that it might make it easyer

One hint id join forum thats for people that build bespoke kit cars
as there are innevitably alot of problems u will face / over come

Well id contact a local VOSA test center, for a list of things you need to pass there test and get the OOO so important v5 so u can drive on the public highways legally.

Also Id look into the thickness / quality of tubular steel you'll need for the fabrication of the space frames

then id contact TDK racing and see about there fiberglass shells so u can keep it looking like a mini :)

Then source a suitable donor vehicle for engine, running gear, brakes, ect

Then decide whether ur gonna go for a modern electrical engine management or mechanical as this will effect your plans

then draw some plans up on paper and consult someone thats built one before like your dad


By this point ull know alot more than me and ill have started my engineering degree and can help u fabricate the supension components :)

just seen rx 150 raceing on MM they look cool but to erm *melon* looking lol

Depends what you want from the kit, as said earlier much better to buy a kit that has been SVA or now IVA'd before, somebody else will have ironed out most of your problems. Will also depend on you budget, you can get a Freestyle on the road for about £3.5K.
