So here's the sit:
I got my mini and it had a rollcage, no back seats, harnesses and two bucket seats, but I'm planningo n having people in the back so the cage, harnesses and passenger bucket seats had to go, cage and harnesses because they took up the back seat space, and passenger seat swapped to original so people can get into the back.

and i noticed the car has two infinity 6x9s in the kickboard (under rear seat), and two kenwood 5"s on the parcel shelf, which sound terrible.

So i ummed and arred and eventually decided that my set of gale 2is were doing nothing sat in my loft so I'm putting them to use.

I've modified the speakerboard to allow for the 6" speaker and tiny tweeter, (pics tomorrow) and just need to know two things.

The orgiinal speakers had two sets of + and- terminals, one for the speaker and one for the tweeter, if i were to get an amp, which i'm planning on, would it be worth driving the tweeter and speaker seperately, so that i'd need a 6 channel amp or a 2 channel and a 4 channel?

Also, the total impedance of the speaker + tweeter is 6ohms, and the output impedance of the head unit is 4 ohms (4 to 8 ohms allowance whatever that means) will this be okay, or will it asplode?

I should really know this, seen as i'm doing A-levels in Music Technology AND physics, but the fact it says impedance is confusing me

Any help in answering either question would be grande :tumble:

several issues....

1) 6Ohm independence will mean that the volume level in comparison to other speakers will be lower

2) Home Hi-fi speakers are not as tolerant to the colder elements that they will experience in the Mini

3) Power rating... Some Hi-fi speakers need a certain amount of poke as a minimum to drive them well,
your head unit is likely to be underpowered!! If your head unit says 4x40watts for example thats more akin to 4x 12watts RMS.

4) Hi-fi speakers sound & react in a way to there enclosure amount of air space / porting / rigidity of the enclosure ....
all that will alter when you put the driver units in the shelf and you may end up putting in something that sounds worse than that which is already there
and potentially they may get damaged !!! by not have the air pressure resistance that the original enclosure presented them.

Cheers, for your reply, i did it today, and, obviously by quite a coincidence, they sound awesome :)
Nice even response.

They are a little underpowered, but a tad of Fader and it's fine, still gonna get an amp for my whole setup though, any reccomendations ona good, cheap 4 channel, sub £100?

Also a good, uprated battery?
