Ive finally decided to try and sort out the horrible scuff marks on my rear windscreen and the rear side windows.

Looks like the previous tried to scrape ice off with a trowel sometime and theres nasty scratches (fairly deep) over the windows. Can i get these polished out?..i heard you can only get toughened glass polished this way?

If I can..who be a good company to go for..im in thw swindon area.

cheers

I would pop down to your local rac auto windscreens or simular place and ask them, they will tell you from experience, I asked them about grinding marks in a screen I brought second hand and they said I needed a new one.

Yes of course you need a new one...... however there are special substances for polishing windscreens, you can use Rhodite on a variable speed electric polishing mop set on slow....

Hi latestarter2,

I have found that Brasso (metal polish) has removed a small scuff from my wiper blade on the windscreen, however yours sounds far deeper than mine, it will take a long time polishing with whatever compound.

I have also heard that '0000' gauge steel wool can take out light scratching, but if you have deep gashes, then you may just be better to get a new window for it.

In a previous thread this link was given but the view is rouge is no good for deep scratches

Also G3 was recommended.

try your local double glazing manufacturer/glazing firms i've seen some pretty deep scratches polished out with the right gear.they might be dubious doing front/rear screens because of the curve but most good firms will be able to do door and quarterlight glass easy.
