At the weekend i and (mattj64) put a 1275 engine in my mini. It had a fast road cam, polished and ported head, high capacity oil pump.

Well... its fine and runs well but when it hits 65mph it starts giving out white smoke from the exhaust. The smoke doesn't smell as though something is burning.

What could this be

Thanks

I always thought that white smoke meant water in the chamber.

Do you have a servo ? If so - it could be brake fluid leaking into the engine from the servo. Watch in case the brake fluid level drops ! Otheriwse - it could indeed be 'steam' -from cracked head/blown gasket etc etc

well i only put the engine in on saturday and this is the first time ive drove it over 50. The head gasket was changed so surely it couldn't have blown already?

To get an idea if it the head gasket or head you could do a compression check on each cylinder and compare the results or do a coolant pressure test to see if it hold pressure. That could help you rule out the cooling system.
