i have heard several different thoughs on sound proofing.. it seems to come down to dynamat/edead rolls or using flashing tape (b&q/screwfix)

i have tried both over the years... and found that the dynamat worked the best.. but.. the flashing tape seems to weight on par with the dynamat

I just put some second skin in my mini. Got about 40 sq feet of the stuff and its made so much difference. Bit cheaper than dynamat too.

just so you know, im going to screwfix tomoro to get a roll of flashing tape. just going to try and get a single 10M roll down tomorrow wile my mini has no interior in. Wont be able to let you know if it has much of an affect for a couple of weeks because the minis off the road for a respray.

I did this project a while back and it has made a big difference. That's flashing tape on the back floor (it's a pickup) to save a few bob, and second skin sludge on the rest of the floor, doors, roof, rear bulkhead and bonnet. Plus new fitted carpet.
Still have to tackle the engine bulkhead and put the roof lining back. Sludge is expensive but I hope will last.
All soundproofing was applied soon after having a new floor, repairs to wheelarches and doors cleaned up, repainted and rehung. No point in sticking soundproofing over dodgy metal.

that sludge stuff looks amazing! i think once my bodywork is up to scratch, i may get a pot!
i am going to be converting to a centre speedo and will need some extra deadening. i am thinking of applying a think layer of edead/dynamat (45mil) behind the dash then use the left over or flashing tape to do the bottom bart (lower dashrail to floor).

For the 10 minutes the rain stopped i went out and got the rear left passenger floorpan done and my bonnet. Seems like good stuff for the money!
I'd recommend it.

Let us know how effective it is when you've done everything. Is it heatproof enough to go under the bonnet? I have heard of foil-backed bitumen peeling off the inside of the roof on a hot day which means it either gets hung up in the lining or in Huey's case it would just fall on my head

i hope so lol, it says resistant to high temperatures on the package? :/ if not ill just whip it off. When you knock on the bonnet it makes more of a thud now instead of a clang.
