Hi
I am doing the final bit of welding to my 1960 mini....most of the restoration as far as welding has been done, I need to now do a bit of welding on the underside.
Anyway, I have a `spit' from M-machine, which has an A-frame at either end and the bar running through the speedo aperture and rear seat bulkhead aperture. This central bar sits in special brackets which clamp to the apertures.

The design of this does not allow the car to be locked at specfic angles......the shell can freely rotate. How difficult would it be for one person to rotate the shell so it is upside down? Also, what is the best way to lock it at cetain angles?

Any help on this would be great.

Cheers

my mates literally just made one of these out of scafold poles and it looks mint. hes put brackets on the rear seatbelt maounts on the rear bulkhead to support the car. wldnt know how to lock it off properly but hes used wood to keep it at the angles he wants. its on its side right now with wood undernetah and in the exhasut tunnel to stop it spinning..

My home built spit has a locking facility at both ends. Designing one witout a way of stopping the car rotating sounds:
a). Stupid
and
b). Dangerous.
You need to fit a clamp or drill some holes in the collar and rotating part to take a pin in the same way that an axel stand takes a pin.

Hi, I succesfully put the car on the spit today, and followed your method of welding a nut to the top of each tobe, tightening with a bolt at the desired angle. It works really well, actually i can rotate the car myself really easily, and am also able to tighten the bolts.
Thanks for the help

Cheers
