Try the RSPCA, I'm sure they'll know the local vets. Alternatively, how far is your nearest zoo.

RSPCA should, aren't they responsible for all animal welfare? They might not offer veterinary services to owners but I'm sure they'll have dealt with birds and know which vets can.

RSPB for birds, the clue's in the name! However they and the RSPCA are just charities, nomatter what they represent themselves as. They aren't actually responsible for anything.

I thought the RSPB only dealt with wild birds? I'm not sure that they have anywhere or anybody that can respond to individual welfare issues either. The RSPCA are a charity but they are also the authority that enforces our animal welfare legislation and they do have a call out service.

You need a vet that specializes in exotics,

quick google turned up this vet...
Manor vets

They have a practice in Cradley Heath which isn't too far from you is it?

Do you have a car/can drive? I would give them a ring now as they should have out of hours emergency clinics open. I really wouldn't wait around.

Do you have a syringe? Most important thing is fluids so if you can get any in, even in form of fruit?

Does he have any favourite fruits? Orange would be good or perhaps a bit of mango. It's a good sign he has had a sip of water.

Try googling other exotic vets in your area and giving them a ring? If you can't get there maybe they will be able to give you some advice over the phone?

Always best to already have a vet for emergencies like this. I'd try and get an appointment first thing tomorrow for the fella, good luck.

edit:try him with a bit of biscuit? you can soak it in some tea or water and make it nice and mushy for him to get down?

All veterinary practises are required, by law, to provide 24 hour emergency cover. Anyone calling themselves a veterinary hospital has to have animal welfare staff on site 24 hours a day. Did you listen to the answerphone completely? It will normally give you an out of hours number to call as many practises will group together to provide night cover. If you do call out the RSPCA they will normally only take you to a local vet anyway as their own vets are widely spread around the country. In the case of an exotic animal they would normally only take you to the nearest specialist vet becuase their own vets would have little experience.

The RSPCA are NOT an authority of any kind, they simply represent themselves as one. They have no powers of any kind. Lets not divert this thread though.

Brilliant, nice high water content in that too! Keep trying him with other bits of juicy food and I would get him to the vet first thing. See if you can take a dropping sample with you when you go.

Goodluck!
