Hi
Looking for some basic advice here around welding passenger side floor on SPi. I am planning to weld in a section of floor pan with a width of approximately 7.5 inches from inner sill to edge of panel section. This will mean that the welded edge will be about 3 or 4 inches from the ridge that the fuel lines run in. For the amount of welding needing done, and the restrictions of where I am working (outside the house!) it is too impractical to start ripping out lines as I don't have access to ramps or a pit.

I have used a tip from another thread around trying to empty the pipes by starting it up and then removing the fuse for the fuel pump, allowing the car to cut out, however would appreciate any information users might have around any other precautions aviseable while doing this job. Many people have differing views about whether or not any additional heat shielding will be needed (will be tacking panel in the gradually filling in gaps as metal cools) or if the insulation on the pipes will be safe enough bearing in mind the distance from the welded area. Also, any comments on how I've emptied the pipes would be useful too if you think I should do anything else.

Thanks
