Help With Speakers

Hi guy's and gal's, I'll be replacing my rear parcel shelf speakers in the not to distant future and was wondering this!!!!!
How big is the hole or in simple term's what size speakers can i put in there without modification??????
Hope someone can help..... :thumbsup:

Depends on the year of your car. I think from about 1990/91 the holes are 16.5cm, may be differend on the very last MPI models but unsure.


Earlier models don't have cut-outs as such, some models came with pod type speakers which were bolted to the rear shelf

Sorry forgot to mention that :thumbsup: i have a 94 carb mayfair auto and i'm pretty sure mine are bolted down, does this make a diffrence????????? :thumbsup:

hi wozza, i am in the same predictament - need new speakers but me not know what me do. i have a 1995 mini mayfair and don't know what size or type of speakers to get? i still have the originals. the omly thing i know about them is thst they are going rusty. any help as to the replacements needed would be of great help. i will be sitting here twiddling my hair as i await your replies, thanks

Look in the boot under the parcel shelf, if they are the original rover ones they have four nuts to undo, the bolt is actually housed inside the speaker and cant be removed, so just undo the nuts and pull the speaker off, simple.

You will more than likely have to drill new holes to accomandate your new speakers, again no big deal as the shelf isnt that tough.

I think there is guy here who does speakers, cant remember if his topic is stickied or not???

Just fitted a set of these 6.5 " Vibe Blackairs and they are great. Hooked up to an amp under my dash (its very little) works well. They are component so have placed tweeters up front.

Many thank's for the help guy's ;) brought myself a set of FUSION ENCOUNTER EN-FR6530 3-WAY 200W 6.5" speakers today and am now just waiting for them to be delivered :wub:

O and Kam i'm guna need your help fitting these :D mucho appreciated :o
