I bought this

I was wondering if anyone could help me on this one

Im guess that the Black wire goes to earth, and the red goes to a switched ignition live.
However what is the other plug thing for?
Also the sockets for the headsets look like this:

Now if each plug was for a headset, how does it work, as surely it should have 2 sockets per Headset, one for microphone and one for Headset. if they require special headset, then any idea where to get some cheapily?
Help much appreciated.

Looks like the socket could be for an external speaker?

So the Headset with Microphone will use one socket only!
and the little socket on the box could be for an external speaker! Nice!
So what kinda headsets use this setup and where could i get them from?

I have a more modern version sat in the garage awaiting fitting to my car. Definitely 1 socket for each headset. the headset plug actually has 3 contacts (similar to the headset on say an iPhone).
The other socket on the unit could be either for an external speaker or possibly an Aux-In socket (that's what it is on mine anyway) which you could plug in an MP3 player to play music through your headsets.
normal head sets should be suitable. I got mine from merlin motorsport at castle coombe. google them! :)

Cheers mate that all makes sense.
So what kinda Heasets use this plug arrangement? are there adapters available?

LOL, sorry Liirge, edited my post as you were replying.

Pretty much have these ones I think.

Although if you plan to wear a helmet then these would be better as you just velcro them to the inside of the helmet

and this is the intercom i have which says the aux is for an output!

Sorry I have only been doing my job for 7 years. I didn't say "all" headsets, I just said the ones we use. We also use ones with 2 jacks but these are normally ANR heasets.
