Model:1.3i Cooper
Year:'93

When im driving along and listening quite happily to my stereo... sometimes when i indicate RIGHT, or flash my headlights to signal for someone infront to go or say thank you... My stereo switches off and back on again.

Im guessing this is a bad earth somewhere... but not really sure where to look for it...

Has anyone else ever had a similar problem? It's really irritating when you're singing along to your music and it just cuts out and you realise you dont actually know the words! lol

Cheers

Stu

I'm having the same problem with my 97 Paul Smith. Does anyone have any ideas on whether it is an earth problem and where to find it?

sounds more like a voltage drop

this could be caused by a bad earth or connections on the live

Having seen your post I charged my battery up and the stereo is now working ok.

Could it be the alternator not keeping up with everything I have switched on during the winter lights, heated window etc?

My stereo was randomly cutting out a while back, usually when I pulled up at a junction and came off the accelerator and the revs dropped.. that turned out to be the alternator that was dropping a volt or two and modern stereos (well, mine anyway) only operate between something like 11 and 16v.

Checked my wiring and the earth at the back of the headunit where it goes on the dashboard bolt was off. Fitted this and it works fine now. :-
