I've just removed the head from my low mileage (didn't stop the gearbox form being knackered!) 2000 Cooper Sport with the JCW gubbins. All piston tops look normal and relatively evenly coked. All the valves look normal, apart from the exhaust valves on 1 & 4. They are very light in colour, almost white. Also the relating pushrods have slightly shiney patches on them about 2/3 of the way down them, whereas all the others do not.
What could have caused this, and is it a problem? Maybe the Tappet clearances have been set too tight for 1.5:1 rockers?
Any advice would be most welcome, and I can stick some pics up tomorrow if needed.
Wiggs.
