I'm having a water jet problem with my 98 mini where the pressure coming out from the jet isn't powerful enough to make it onto the windscreen. Is there any part that I can adjust?

start by checking the nozzles are not blocked, then follow the plastic tubes from the nozzles to make sure there are no splits e.t.c

They're not blocked.

I have fitted some chrome ones, but even with the black standard ones on the car, the water just got to the screen. Is there a pump that I can check?

The pump is located on the actual washer bottle on the driver side, perhaps the contacts are corroded or the pump has failed?

if it's a 1998 car, the washer bottle should be on the boot. As said, the pump itself attached on the washer bottle.

Can check all the pipework too, might have a kink or a blockage, possible one way valve has gone duff too - thats by the washer bottle.

I think part of the problem is that the washer bottle used and still is up front on earlier cars, when they moved it to the boot on the Mpi's, they left the same pump in.
So in instead of pumping water through 1-1.5m of tube it has to do 3-4m worth of tube.
The pump is inadiquate!

It's the same on my 98 Mpi, like you I have twin chrome jets, the water does reach the windscreen O.K but with no great pressure.

If you've chacked for leaks and bends like I have, I think we'll have to either replace the pump with a different one or put up with it.

The one way valve was my first thought too. You can pick them up for pence from motor factors.
