Just wondering if anyone knew what the ID or OD of the bypass hose that connects to the bypass on the water pump for a 998, im not going for an OEM fluted sort as that failed and I don't want it to split again lol

I had a look on minispares and they have an silicone hose for that, but it was out of stock, so I need to know the ID or OD of the bypass hose, I have measured the OD on the waterpump and its 12mm, is that about right?

Also what sort of silicone hose would I need? Would I be able to use ones that are for vacuum as some say Vacuum/water

12mm is either very close or exactly right. I have always used 1/2" heater hose for the bypass and that's only a bit larger than 12mm.

Unless you need it in a rush it might be worth opting for a silicone or kevlar hose, since you only need a couple of inches it shouldn't cost much more.

Not really in a rush, need to wait for the parts to arrive, and also I want to make sure that this doesn't leak again! (or for a very very long time lol) so I would rather silicone >_<

1/2" bore heater hose is perfect - the original would've been designed as 1/2" not 12mm.
To be honest a good quality heater hose will last years without kevlar/silicon/etc...
