Hi, im new to the forums, i have a 22 year old 1000L mini Mayfair and its my first car. Its currently white which im not so keen on because its just a tad boring :), however i have no idea about how much spraying costs, if its possible to do it on you're own or where you do go to get it done, so any help would be very much appreciated :)

Wow. a 1000L How did you fit that in your mini. :)

I would say around £1000 normally a good guess. But of course, it depends on whoz stripping it out, what type of paint your having. Ect. ect.

You're looking at about 3 litres of paint to cover a mini, which costs on average around £30 per litre. Then you will need to buy hardener and thinner as well which from memory is about £8/litre and £12 per litre repectively. Then you'd need a gun/ compressor etc. Plus, you need to factor in the cost of sandpaper and primer and tack cloths, all the things you will need to prep the car before you get any paint anywhere near it. The better the prep, the better the outcome.

However, you could go down the route i am and paint the car using Rustoleum. Its so much cheaper than car paint and covers a lot more surface area, added qualities include the fact its designed to treat and stop rust! perfect for mini's. You can get a decent spray station from Argos by a company called Earlex. They are good and don't cost too much. Thats what i'm using to respray my car. Rustoleum and an Earlex spray station.

Hope this helps.

Just to add, yes you could do it yourself for a fraction of the price, but depending on your skill-quality could be an issue

If your budget is tight and the white paint looks ok why not make it your own by fitting stick-ons. Maybe a Union flag or squares on the roof, bonnet, boot stripes, black windows etc etc. The choice is yours. When I got my black mini it was boring so I explored this idea and now golly-gosh is a one off.

Assuming the car is 100% rust free on the outside then there is always the option of getting the car wrapped.

Costs about £800 for a full size car so i would have thought less for a mini
