got a few (after looking at what i actually have installed, "few" is the wrong word to have written :D) others I keep installed in case of bouts of nostalgia, Diablo II & Titan Quest which always fill a good ole hack n slash rpg moment when needed; homeworld 1+2, galciv2 & sins of a solar empire for some space battles, keeps the edge off needing to resubscribe to eve-online, too. not forgetting the WWII battles to be had in Company of Heroes (only the original mind, never got around to buying the addons!) CoD2, 3 and 4! (sure I have the original on CD still: I might even have to dig that one out later!); Return to Castle Wolfenstein (+ enemy territory, but I'm not a fan) brings back alot of early days at uni! lol.
going off track a little now: used to enjoy BF1942 a lot too, but Desert Combat was my favourite mod of the 'era'. Alien Swarm for ut2k4: I'm still waiting for Infested, Black Cat!
Command & Conquer Generals/Zero Hour! "can i have some shoes?".
Balders Gates, neverwinters, icewind dale.... oh my! not forgetting the more recent additions like Oblivion Elder Scrolls, which even with it's lack of multiplayer kept me hooked for a good long time.
There are so many I can remember, I suppose with rose tinted glasses, which I've *ahem* downloaded since I first played (having lost/dumped/broken the originals) and never seemed to live up to expectations. I remember spending a good while in baldurs gate when it was new, levelling my character and getting really engrossed in the story, but when I recently tried it.... wow! it was so dated (stupid to think otherwise, eh?). terrible interface & graphics but the story.... I don't think I've been as engrossed since, except for perhaps until NWN.
If you're a gamer, what do you remember playing that really makes you think: wow, i remember when..... "Mattel Electronics Presents Space Spartans!"
tl;dr what pc games did you like?

Unreal tournament, UT2K4, Counterstrike *classic game, wonder if that desert map is still popular if the game is still played*, BF1942 and desert combat, etc
We used to attend 50-150 person lan parties in west yorkshire, friday evening till sunday night without sleep. Good crack, plenty of beer, modified computers, plenty of gaming action, and you can see the furstration on the other guys face as you snipe him on counter strike.
Used to stay up all night playing UT, i love that game. 2k4 spoilt it for me, wasnt the same in my eyes.
Grown out of it these days.....

played CS:Source a bit, but it's not not like it used to be. I don't know what it is, but it's just different. or perhaps it's just sooo competitive these days it's less of a game and more of a proving ground for want to be "pro gamers". are you talking about de_dust? That map is still alive and well. =) I know what you mean about the big lan events, great fun! at uni we had a 'lab' for all the CS students which we generally used to play counter strike in, set up a few tournaments with the gaming societies in there! good times, lol.

PC's best for getting all those headshots, can't beat a mouse n keyboard for that.

I have that! I reinstalled RtCW mainly for the original MP modes but seems like I can never get a good game

haha, I remember playing the likes of Doom and Duke Nukem via a trusty old serial cable! only 2 player deathmatch, so we just had knockout games! lol.

Brilliant, with lines like "I'm going to rip your head off and *defecate* down your neck" and a cinema showing a girl towelling herself
