Howdie all,

I remeber seeing an artical a little while ago in one of the mini mags where canems installed a mpi injection system into a 998 useing mostly mini parts and then their ecu.

Has anyone tryed this conversion? i currently have the mpi throttle bodies and fuel rail bits, i know i will need a coil and a trigger wheel + sensor, a MAP gauge but what about fueling, can i use a aftermarket facet pump so i dont need a return line to the tank? or will i still need this??

oh and by replying to this topic with "yes ive done this conversion" expect lots more questions your way :)

thanks all

(not sure if this should be in the injection section or not)

I'm about to part with the cash for one for my MPi.

I saw them at MiTP 07, and WHOLLY recommend them purely for their informative service, good value and what I saw on the stand was absolutely incredible...

the theory behind the system from what i can tell is brilliant, plus the fact its all combined into 1 unit rather than having 2 controlers, one for the fuel one for the timeing.

i like the idea of a reliable and efficient small engine (plus its all there for when i chose to upgrade to a 1380 just change the injectors and re-map it)

ive read some posts from people saying the throtle sensors need a converter os something to work with the camens system, no idea on what this means, i cant find the post i read it on now.

I may mail the main guy at canems see if he can advise on the components needed to do the job being as their website shows they have done it before.

Hi, if you take Minworld August editon see pages 86-89 for the Trent Valley Owners Club rolling road shootout at Z cars, see the top small bore & top big bore cars, both running canems systems, the small bore was running on twin throttle bodies and the big bore on Honda vtr1000 bodies with 4 injectors on a 5 port head. See www.canems.co.uk for futher details on both of these cars. (mines the 1380 green clubby)

Canems has run the mpi system as well as the above so you should have no trouble converting to injection if you use the right bits, ideally you will need to run the mpi tank and return pipes to simplify the system, you could use a swirlpot with a high pressure pump in the front but you would still need a pump to lift from the tank to the swirlpot and find somewhere to mount it in the front, not a lot of space in there now, without an extra pot of a litre capacity at least.

Canems can certainly advise/supply on most of the components you havent already got, but it sounds like you already have most of the bits if you already have the mpi unit etc.
