years ago i seam to remember it being quite common practice to convert a left hand petrol tank to fit in the right hand side.
can anyone remember how this was done
i dont want an external petrol tank neck as i want to refuel from inside the boot (have closed the origional fuel tank neck hole and smoothed over)
but would still love twin tanks for long distance journeys
had a quick search around in here but cant find anyone doing it
thanks all

i did this in my mini.. well.. i helped my brother do it.. we took a left hander 5.5 gallon one and cut the lip off the front (nearest the bootlid on a left hand tank and had it seam welded and pressure tested.. then you just have to move the filler neck round to the new possition and weld up the old hole with the piece youve just cut out. then we used a 7.5 gallon tank strap that we modded to go round it as it tucked further back at the top and used the nut that was welded to the rear of the seat.
on mine tho i wanted the twin lok so i cut the whole in the car body witht he measuremnts from the other side... then u can mark the tank when pushed in for the new filler neck.

do it then yeti!.lol its really not that hard.. hardest bit is gettin it to sit right round the wheel arch... as its the opposite to the other side.. oh.. and if you weld the tank yourself... leave it full of water for a couple of days first before you weld it as i cannot be held responsible for big booms hahahahaha
