and u have severely dented bonnet and boot and was wondering how difficult it would be to replace the steel ones with the fiberglass ones?
or whether i should just beat the hell outa the ones ive got and filler them to perfection?

in think most people use boot hinges on the bootlid like standarsd but you can use Dezus fastners or bonnet pins.. whats out for some smooth bootlids as there not smmoth at all and have ripples in them. bonnet wise most people use pins or the same not seen many hinged bonnets about to be honest if any...

I was planning on doing one when i could afford it....

I dont get why people dont hinge them, especially since most people leave the hinges in place anyway, you might aswell use em.

I would definatly go for fibreglass, or carbon fibre, mianly because they dont rust and they are quite a bit lighter, which can make a difference on a small car with not allot of power.

yes you can but you would have to bond all the hinges and the locking mechanism to the fiberglass bonnet.

it can be done :w00t:

Are they not too flexible to hinge? I know my brother was asked to put a fibreglass front end on a car and steel bonnet, leaving the normal locking mechanism. He played around for hours trying to do it but the fibreglass front end was too flexible even after he'd reinforced it with some metal on the top cross bar. I don't know if this is the same case for bonnets...

I prefer working with bonnet removed.
(But many people dont use hinges and use bonnet pins just for the look..lol)

i am getting more and more tempted to fit fake body pins (just get some cheap ones and fit them to the car, but not attach the pin to anything under the bonnet)

Then you get the look with none of the hastle. plus it'll confuse the *melon* out of people who try to open your bonnet to steal stuff.
