So why have we changed to a more similar system to ebay than a forum?

Fair point Tom

It was changed to make things smoother I guess.... Imagine if Ebay was like a forum - the amount of stupid comments that items would get flooded with would be unreal - similar to how the old forum based classifieds were,... I certainly got fed up with people bumping threads all the time and comments being made on threads that frankly belonged in The General Silly Chat section.

Now everything is clearly set out, easy to find thanks to the part categories and calender function, clearly priced, and not full of people making stupid offers and stupid remarks.

I think it works very well.. It's purpose built. Shame it doesn't always show location of items which is a pain.

It shows the location of items if it is entered when writing the thread up.... unfortunately some people still have trouble entering the location of the item.... :)

Blueredtop, Regarding the 'sort by zip code' option, i don't believe it has been implemented yet - It's a massive modification to the forum and requires lots of work to get it right, so there's obviously still some features yet to be activated etc...

Look at Piston Heads.....they have a forum and a classifieds section.

Both work well.

They dont have 1000's of topics selling cars on there forums, because thats what the classifieds system is for.

And secondly, if you need parts and are desperate or really want to find something, you WILL pull your finger out and look for them. I know if I need a part, I search here, other forums, ebay, classifieds, freeads, local clubs, traders etc.....if you cant be bothered to look, you cant really need/want the parts......simple really!

I LOVE the classifieds section. I check it every single day, sometimes four to five times each day to see whats new on the market! I would rather buy stuff off here as it's less "mainstream" than ebay and therefore less of a chance to get robbed by some scammer.....I am on the forum everyday as well so I see names, I read threads etc....so hypothetically if I saw something in the classifieds being sold by Jordie or Retro10's or anyone else whom is an upright member of TMF then I would have no worries buying from them off here. Having Paypal functionality is even better! All the classifieds on here are is just one big yardsale (not sure what you Brits call it, cause us Americans call our Garden a "Yard"...."Gardensale"???). Anyhow, I like it! Works a treat! :(

thats the point im getting at jordie.

when it was the old way i looked on here every day for parts rather than in papers ebay ect.

now its like this I FIND IT harder to search for stuff on here and tend to look more in papers ebay ect.

its a shame really. i would rather give my money to someone on this site than off ebay ect.

I like it, if I'm looking for something in particular it makes it easy to get straight to it when everything is sorted by categories. I much prefer it over the old pile of topics that got spammed and bumped all the time.
